Introduction
The two sessions I chose to disclose here formed the basis of my tutoring philosophy. I saw the way that these tutors and students interacted and I felt that this was a very good method of tutoring to uphold. The first observation focuses on rapport and allowing the student to feel comfortable with the session. The tutor not only helped the student feel comfortable but allowed them to self correct throughout the session and continued to ask questions and allow the students to do the work of making the paper better. The second observation is about asking questions and teaching a student new tools to write a better paper without employing them during the session. The tutor allowed the student to write during the session and then use that outline that they wrote at a later date to form a better paper. This is just one of many examples of creating better writers that the Learning Resource Center has provided. I feel that these two sessions helped to solidify the feelings I had towards tutoring and make me see that this method of tutoring has better long term effects than any editing type of tutoring could ever provide.
